How to use this book => After revising the appropriate material, most candidates will benefit from attempting the Mock examinations in this text. The questions have been designed to mimic the actual FRCPath Part 1 examination in standard, style and organization. Each paper begins with 50 single best answer (SBA) questions and is followed by 75 extended matching questions (EMQ). 3 hours are allowed for each paper. The precise pass mark for the real examination is set by the Royal College of Pathologists. However, the authors would advise that a candidate answering more than 66% of the questions correctly would be likely to achieve a pass standard. The size of paper used and spacing of the questions is also similar to that of the FRCPath Part 1 examination; allowing the student a more realistic impression of exam conditions.
